ISLAMABAD, Nov 29: The British Government was not opposed to grant of visa to former prime minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif and had no intention to deny it to him and his other family members.
This was stated by British High Commissioner in Pakistan Mark Lyall Grant while talking to reporters at his residence here on Tuesday.
He said Nawaz Sharif and his family members had applied for a visa which would be processed in normal time.
Asked as to what was the normal processing time, he said it varies from country to country and was a bit slow in Saudi Arabia.
He said the Sharif family will be getting visas in a couple of days. “We understand that Nawaz Sharif wants to travel to the United Kingdom to see his ailing son,” he added.
Nawaz Sharif and his 17 family members currently in Saudi Arabia had applied British visas to proceed to the United Kingdom where Nawaz Sharif’s younger son, Hussain Nawaz, was admitted to a hospital after suffering from multiple sclerosis. They were waiting for their visas to be processed for the last two weeks.
