KARACHI, Nov 29: Karachi Harbour inflicted a humiliating innings and 205-run defeat on hosts Hyderabad in a one-sided final of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver League cricket tournament at Niaz Stadium on Tuesday.

By virtue of this emphatic victory with two days to spare, Karachi Harbour qualified for the Gold League of the prestigious championship next season.

Even a face-saving century by former Pakistan under-19 batsman Shahid Qambrani and a gallant 95 from Hanifur Rahman was not enough to prevent Moin Khan’s side winning by such a huge margin.

Moin declared Karachi Harbour’s first innings at a mammoth 602 for eight after deservingly completing a magnificent double century.

The former Pakistan skipper couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate moment to remind the national selectors that he has still a lot to offer at the international level even at 34.

Moin’s spanking 200 off mere 211 deliveries were made in 278 minutes with 17 fours and 10 sixes. Karachi Harbour’s total was also a new ground record.

Faced with a massive deficit of 530 runs, Hyderabad fared much better in their second innings following their amazing capitulation in the first for only 72 runs on the opening day.

Faisal Athar and Hanif Malik were consoled by being declared the Silver League’s best batsman and best wicket-keeper, respectively.

Quetta’s paceman Azharullah was adjudged best bowler while Karachi Harbour’s Agha Sabir won the best fielder award. All individual prizes were worth Rs20,000 each.
