Five sentenced to death

QUETTA, Nov 29: Anti-Terrorist Court Quetta on Tuesday sentenced five people to death for killing five army personnel and another man near Khuzdar.

Judge Mohammad Ghaus Nausherwani also fined Mohammad Rafiq, Juma Khan, Amir Bakhsh, Mohammad Bakhsh and Mohammad Ismail Rs25,000. Three of the convicts, Amir Bakhsh, Mohammad Bakhsh and Muhammad Ismail, are at large.

The charges against the accused were that they had on August 1, 2004, killed five army men near Khuzdar and the driver of their vehicle by firing and hurling bombs.

The court, however, acquitted Wadera Hasan for lack of evidence.
