QUETTA, Nov 29: Nazims of different union councils of the city staged demonstrations against the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) for supplying inadequate quantity of gas to consumers in the provincial capital affecting their heating and cooking systems.
The nazims and councillors assembled outside the Quetta Press Club and raised slogans against the gas company management. They demanded that gas be supplied for consumers in sufficient quantities.
Speakers said that they had held recently a meeting with SSGC officials and brought to their notice that the low supply of gas was creating serious problems for people.
They said that there had been no improvement in the situation despite the fact that the provincial capital was in the grip of a severe cold weather for the last 48 hours.
Nazims strongly stressed upon the gas company management to take the issue seriously as the consumers who were living in the suburbs of the city could hardly get any gas.
It may be mentioned here that on Sunday the deputy speaker of the assembly, Mohammad Aslam Bhootani, who chaired the proceedings of the house, on a point of order from opposition members directed the general manager of the SSGC to take notice of the low supply of gas.
