KOHAT, Nov 29: District Nazim Kohat Seth Gohar Saifullah has allcated Rs 10 million for upgrading the electricity supply system in 20 backward union councils and released another Rs 3.5 million for the repair of city roads.
The grant was promised by the State Minister for Power and Provincial President of PML Amir Muqam during the election campaign of district nazim.
Seth Gohar, while presiding over a meeting of the nazims of all the 31 union councils on Tuesday, decided that each of these union councils would get Rs 0.5 million for the installation of electricity poles, wires and transformers. The decision was unanimously accepted.
He told the participants that it should be the priority of district government to give preference to the extremely backward areas in making allocations.
He also asked the nazims to utilize the funds in most transparent manner.
He directed the authorities concerned that the work on roads should be started at the earliest.
Speaking at another meeting of the Kohat Bar Association, he said that the lawyers community could play an important role in the dispensation of justice to the people if they discharged their duties with honesty.
