KARACHI: City Nazim orders fumigation campaign

KARACHI, Nov 29: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday issued instructions for carrying out an extensive five-day fumigation campaign in all 18 towns of the city in view of the reported Congo virus infection and hemorrhagic fever.

He asked the concerned officers for constitution of special teams to carry out the campaign.

He asked the DCO and EDO (Health) to visit different towns, personally and check the fumigation work carried out by the special teams during the five-day drive.

Mustafa Kamal also instructed the town municipal administrators for taking required precautionary measures to check spread of virus; particularly ensuring the regular removal of the garbage.

According to the Health Group of Offices, the city government has decided to conduct fumigation on Nov 30 in Saddar, Korangi, SITE and North Nazimabad towns. On Dec 1, fumigation would be carried out in Keamari, Lyari, Shah Faisal and Jamshed towns. On Dec 2, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Orangi, North Karachi and Malir towns would have extensive fumigation. On Dec 3, fumigation would be carried out in Bin Qasim, Landhi, Gulberg and Baldia towns, while fumigation in remaining two towns of Liaquatabad and Gadap would be carried out on Dec 4.—PPI
