KARACHI: Jeay Sindh Mahaz backs unity move

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 29: The central executive committee of Jeay Sindh Mahaz has elected Abdul Khalique Junejo and Hashim Khan Khoso as chairman and secretary-general of the Mahaz respectively.

The meeting discussed the proposed unity move among the Sindh nationalists and decided to join it. The committee urged the party leadership to back the unity efforts.

The JSM central body urged the government to make Sindhi language as compulsory subject to Class XII and honour the Sindh Assembly’s resolution in this regard.

It also called for recognition of Sindhi, Balochi, Seraiki, Pushto and Punjabi, as the national languages of Pakistan and declaring English as lingua franca and Sindhi as official language of the Sindh province. It criticized the efforts aimed at creating ethnic divide in the province.

The meeting also termed the entry of ‘outsiders’ into Sindh a threat to the national integrity and identity of Sindh and urged the government to stop the process. It also suggested that instead of rehabilitating earthquake victims in Karachi, they should be settled nearby their own homes.

The committee took serious note of victimization of Sindhi people and expressed the view that the issue could only be resolved by recognizing the autonomous status of Sindh.
