Asim and Kamani set for showdown


KARACHI, Nov 28: Promising Qasim Kamani and seasoned Asim Ghani reached the final of the first phase of Karachi Club Open snooker championship on Sunday. Teenager Kamani stunned experienced Farhan Idrees 4-2. He recorded two well compiled breaks of 40 in the first frames and 50 in the penultimate frame to seal victory.

Qasim took the first frames with controlled game but lanky Farhan levelled the terms by grabbing the next two frames. Kamani, however, showed better brand of potting to take next two frames to complete win.

Former ranked cueist Asim Ghani had an upper-hand against Ahad Ali Khan with a fine win, dropping the second last frame.

The winner of the first phase will get Rs10,000 and the runner-up will pocket Rs5,000.

Results: Qasim Kamani bt Farhan Idress 105-39, 54-36, 60-77, 29-60, 67-26, 64-24; Asim Ghani bt Ahad Ali Khan 56-33, 69-56, 53-43, 20-54, 80-26.—APP
