No deal made: Sherpao

Published November 29, 2005

ISLAMABAD, Nov 28: Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao said on Monday that no deal has been made for the return of Benazir Bhutto. “Neither any deal has been made, nor the government believes in such deals,” the minister told a private TV channel.

Mr Sherpao said that he is of the opinion that Ms Bhutto could return but would be dealt in accordance with the law.

He said that rumours of her return were spread by certain elements after every three or four months but nothing of the sort has so far taken place.

Replying to a question, he said: “There is no question of according permission for return to anyone by the government because it is not a hurdle in their return.”

He said the matter of Shahbaz Sharif was different because the Sharif family had singed an agreement before leaving for Saudi Arabia which they have to abide by. Mr Sherpao said that Ms Bhutto would have to face pending cases against her.—APP
