FAISALABAD, Nov 28: Lyallpur Town Nazim Rana Zahid Mehmood has vowed to continue an anti-encroachment drive despite the protest threats from traders and some of vendor organizations. Talking to reporters here on Monday, the Nazim said that no pressure would be entertained to stop the operation against encroachers as the beautification plan would be completed at all costs.
He said some shopkeepers and vendors would pay heavy bribe to the defunct tehsil municipal administration staff, but now the town administration had turned down their offers and decided to remove all cemented and makeshift encroachments.
Mr Mahmood said that trade leaders only a fortnight ago had assured full cooperation to the town administration for launching operation against encroachers. But, they had changed their stance and started threatening a protest call, he said.
HAJ ARRANGEMENTS: The Haj camp will be functional from Dec 1 in Cooperatives College, Sargodha Road, while the first Haj flight will take off on Dec 4 from Faisalabad.
This was stated by DCO Athar Husain Khan Sial in a meeting held to finalize arrangements for the Haj Camp here on Monday.
The DCO said that officials deputed at the Haj camp should perform their duties as sacred obligation.
FCCI president Mian Muhammad Hanif, Pakistan Textile Exporters Association chairman Rana Arif Tauseef, senior administrative officer Liaquat Chattha and representatives of various banks, PIA, customs, PTCL, Fesco, Wasa and different were also present on the occasion.
