Maryam annexes title

LAHORE, Nov 27: Maryam Raheem annexed the women’s singles title beating her sister Nida Raheem in the final of the National grass court tennis championship at the Bagh-i-Jinnah courts on Sunday.

Maryam recovered to beat Nida 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 to retain her supremacy.

Top seed Aqeel Khan, pairing with Rashid Malik won the doubles final thrashing Shahzad Khan and Jalil Khan 6-3, 6-4.

Ladies singles (final): Maryam Raheem bt Nida Raheem 4-6, 6-2, 6-2

Men’s doubles (semifinals): Jalil Khan-Shahzad Khan bt Mehmood Khan-Inam Gul 6-4, 7-5; Rashid Malik-Aqeel Khan bt Nomi Qamar- M Shafique 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-2

Final: Rashid Malik-Aqeel Khan bt Jalil Khan-Shahzad Khan 6-3, 6-4

Boys u-17 final: Umar Babar bt Khurram Nazir 4-6, 6-2, 3-0 (Khurram retired)

Girls U-17 (semifinals): Sara Mehboob bt Qurat-ul-Ain 6-4, 6-1; Sara Mansoor bt Saba Aziz 6-2, 6-2

Girls U-13 final: Ushna Sohail bt Zarneb Ameen 6-3, 6-4.
