SGP qualify for Gold Cup final

KARACHI, Nov 27: Sindh Government Press (SGP) reached All-Pakistan Gold Cup football tournament semifinals with a 2-1 victory over Gwadar Port Authority thanks to a Mohammad Bukhsh winner at Bizenjo Stadium, Gwadar on Sunday.

After a barren first half, SGP grabbed the lead four minutes into second session through Mohammad Akhtar. The winners maintained their lead till 72nd minute before Mohammad Asif netted the equaliser in the 72nd minute.

Bukhsh rescued SGP with a 74th-minute match-winner.

Shahid Saleem struck a brilliant hat trick in Habib Bank’s (HBL) convincing 7-0 win over Pasni.

Shahid gave an aggressive start to the bankers, slamming home twice in the 8th and 29th minute. Kamran Ishaque made it 3-0 for the winners with a 36th-minute goal.

Shahid completed his hat trick in the 54th minute, Abdul Malik was on target in the 77th minute before Kamran got his double in the 85th minute and Abdul Qayyum completed the rout a minute before time.

National Bank (NBP) defeated Kuchch 2-0.

Atiqullah netted a minute before breather, while Sattar Mansoori found the cage in the 76th minute.

On Saturday, Zaheer Ahmad grabbed last-gasp equaliser to help Pakistan Navy manage a 1-1 draw with Gwadar.

Ataur Rahman opened Gwadar’s account in the 21st minute before Zaheer equalised through a free kick a minute before time.

SGP handed a crushing 4-0 defeat to Pasni.

The winners went 1-0 up through Mohammad Zahid Jr in the 32nd minute, while Mohammad Bukhsh netted the second in the 52nd minute.

Faraz Anwar came into action six minutes later before Zahid Hussain sealed the fate of the match with a 87th-minute strike.
