SAHIWAL, Nov 27: Sahiwal police claimed to have arrested 33 proclaimed offenders, eight court absconders and three army deserters during the general hold-up here on Saturday night.

Taking action on the orders of the Multan Range DIG, the police also arrested nine people for keeping Illicit arms. In addition, police rounded up four drug traffickers and unearthed a distillery as well.

Police have registered 18 separate cases.

LOOTED: Four masked bandits looted the house of a pesticide dealer in Canal View Colony here on Saturday night.

Armed bandits entered the house along with one of the family members who was returning home. The intruders held hostage dealer Azhar Aziz, his wife and children and collected Rs125,000 in cash and ornaments worth Rs400,000. They also took away a licensed rifle and three cell phones. The bandits also deprived Ghulam Haider of Rs2,000 in cash when he came to his house. Before their escape, bandits locked all the family members in the kitchen.

Meanwhile, armed bandits shot at and injured a neighbour during a dacoity bid in a house at Chak 132/9-L.

Habib Ahmed rushed to the house of Zulfiqar Ahmed for his help, but the bandits injured him with a gunshot fire and escaped from the scene.

Grain Market police have registered a case against the culprits.
