KARACHI: Nipa course participants visit Baldia, Taisar towns
KARACHI, Nov 27: A delegation comprising senior officers of federal and provincial governments participating in NIPA Advanced Course paid a visit to Taisar Town and Baldia Town sites of Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project on Sunday.
The delegation, led by a senior instructor of National Institute of Public Administration Zakir Ali, was given briefing on the ongoing resettlement and development works.
The delegation was informed that special attention was being paid on the provision of high quality education to the children of new settlers.
At present, the visiting officers were told that 3,500 students were getting education in two shifts in seven primary schools and a high school at Hawkesbay. Similarly, around 3,500 students were studying in nine primary schools in Taisar Town.
They were further informed that students were provided with books and uniforms free of cost while local educated girls had been employed as honorary teachers to meet the shortage of school teachers.
The delegation was also briefed on the planning of resettlement sites with the help of maps and charts.
The delegation noted that people affected by Lyari Expressway project were being resettled here with proper planning and special care was being taken for schools, dispensary, shopping centres, hospitals, community centres, playgrounds, parks, and roads to facilitate the residents.
The visiting officers also went round the skills development centre being run with the coordination of Pakistan Baitul Maal and Resettlement Project.
Later, the delegation members planted trees in a school courtyard along with some children.—APP
