Match abandoned

BANGALORE, Nov 26: The visiting Sri Lankan cricket team were Saturday denied a good practice match ahead of their upcoming three-Test series against India.

The opening day of their tie against a Board President’s XI had to be abandoned because of rain, which also threatened to disrupt the remaining two days of the match.

Sri Lanka, who last played a Test match in India in 1997, open the series in Chennai on Dec 2 with the other two Tests to be played in New Delhi (Dec 10-14) and Kanpur (Dec 18-22).—AFP
