KARACHI, Nov 26: The Election Commission on Saturday allotted symbols to the candidates of the by-election for two Sindh Assembly seats, PS-117 and PS-120, of Karachi.

From constituency PS-106, which was included in the initial schedule for the by-election, MQM candidate Khalid Bin Wilayat has already returned uncontested as his two rivals, Arbab Ali Khan and Syed Athar Zaidi, had withdrawn their nomination papers.

The polling, according to the commission, will be held on Dec 10 for which necessary arrangements are being made.

The candidates and the symbols allotted to them are as under:

PS-117: Dr Saghir Ahmad of MQM ‘Kite’, Pir Abdul Rashid of ARD ‘Arrow’ and Habib-ur-Rashid, an independent candidate, ‘Car’.

PS-120: Nishat Mohammad Zia Qadri of MQM ‘Kite’, Ahmad Waseem Alvi of ARD ‘Arrow’ and Mohammad Rashid, an independent candidate, ‘Car’.

The PS-106 and PS-117 had fallen vacant following election of Syed Mustafa Kamal and Kanwar Naveed Jameel as city nazims of Karachi and Hyderabad respectively. The PS-120 seat had fallen vacant due to the death of MPA Ali Bin Hamid of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.
