Blast rocks Jalalabad

JALALABAD, Nov 25: A bomb exploded near a government construction site in Afghanistan’s eastern city of Jalalabad on Friday, blowing apart a man believed to be the bomber and wounding a passer-by, police said.

The explosion took place in the city centre where construction works were under progress by an Afghan company run by the government, Jalalabad police chief Mohammad Akram Besharyar said.

“One person, who is believed to be the bomber, was killed in the explosion. He was smashed into pieces. His head was hanging on a nearby tree,” Mr Besharyar said. “One person passing by was wounded.” —AFP
