LAHORE, Nov 25: A six-wicket haul by off-spinner Qaisar Shahzad has offered Multan hope of victory against Sialkot in the National Inter-region under-19 cricket tournament on the second day at the Gymkhana ground, Okara.
Qaisar, who took four wickets in the first innings, gave away 81 runs in the second innings to complete the match-haul of 10 wickets as Sialkot, who gained 20-run lead on the first innings, were all out for 226 setting a winning target of 247.
Only Arslan Anwar (65, eight fours, two sixes) could bat with any degree of confidence.
By the close of play, Multan were 26-1—221 runs away from achieving the target with nine wickets intact.
Off-spinner Yasim Murtaza snapped up five wickets for 46 runs to bring Rawalpindi in sight of a victory against Faisalabad at the Bohranwali Ground, Faisalabad.
Rawalpindi, who scored 345 in the first innings, forced Faisalabad to follow-on, bundling them out in the first innings for 180.
A defiant unbeaten 70 by Qasim Khan even failed to rescue Faisalabad from follow-on. By the close of play, Faisalabad were 164 for five, still one run behind to avoid an innings’ defeat.
