ISAF assures support to PSAF

By A Sports Correspondent

KARACHI, Nov 25: The top hierarchy of International Sailing Federation (ISAF) has assured Pakistan of their full support in the development and promotion of sailing in the country.

The assurance came from none other than the ISAF president, Goran Peterson, to PSAF president, Vice Admiral Asad Qureshi, in a meeting during ISAF annual conference held at Singapore recently.

Secretary PSAF, Capt (retd) S. V. Hasan, secretary, PSAF, who also attended the meeting told Dawn on Friday that this was for the first time that any PSAF chief had a meeting with the ISAF president.

He said the ISAF official held out assurance of allotting more ISAF sponsored solidarity courses to Pakistan in future to help raise their sailing standards.

The ISAF chief also assured induction of Pakistani officials in various sub committees of ISAF on the eve of the next elections in 2008, he added.

The two PSAF officials also called on the ISAF secretary, Irve Sundhiem, and apprised him about the role Pakistan was playing in the promotion of sport.

In addition to the annual general meeting of the ISAF, the PSAF high-ups attended meetings of different subcommittees and seminar.
