Probe into burning of land record ordered

By Our Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Nov 25: City Nazim Raja Javaid Ikhlas on Thursday ordered an inquiry into the burning of land record in a fire at the revenue office and sought report within three days about the incident. “Deputy district revenue officers are responsible to safeguard the revenue record,”, said the city nazim while presiding over a meeting of the revenue officials of the district in his office.

He also directed the officers to ensure safety of the land record and depute the security personnel there round-the-clock. A police constable should also be provided for the purpose, he said.

Mr Ikhlas also sought detailed report about the government land occupied by ‘land mafia’ or encroachers, a press release issued by the city government late in the night said.

“No one would be allowed to occupy the government land illegally”, the city nazim said while presiding over a meeting of Revenue Department officers of the district in his office.

He said all resources should be utilized to retrieve the government land.

The meeting was attended by DCO Hamid Ali Khan, District Officer, Revenue, Chaudhry Habibullah and Deputy District officers of revenue of tehsils and the district.
