LAHORE, Nov 25: The Punjab government is considering to establish an education commission which will set uniform question papers for class V and VIII for assessing educational abilities of all students by the same standard. This was stated at a meeting held here on Friday with chief secretary Salman Siddique in the chair to review various aspects of the proposed provincial commission.
The meeting was informed that the commission was aimed at evolving a uniform examination standard for students of all areas of the province, and holding the related examinations simultaneously. A uniform standard of marking answer-sheets would also be ensured for evaluating the educational abilities of students.
Under the present system, the meeting was informed, the examination standard of different areas varied, resulting in difficulties in evaluating the abilities of students.
The commission besides reformation of the education system would also take measures for the promotion of research in the education sector and capacity-building of teachers. The standardization of the examination system would introduce a positive trend of competition at the school level.
