KARACHI: 2,541 granted admissions to KU masters programmes
KARACHI, Nov 25: The University of Karachi on Friday released the lists of 2,541 applicants selected for admissions to the master’s programmes for the ensuing session at its 45 departments, out of 4,020 applicants who applied for admissions.
“There are around as 2,300 available seats, but we have granted admissions to 62 per cent of the total applications on the basis of merit, in view of the fact that seats at some departments are left at some later stage in the case of routine student dropouts,” Director KU admissions committee, Prof Shakeel Ahmed Khan informed.
He said that majority of seats in the languages department and at some other faculties including Islamic Learning remained vacant as students showed less interest in these departments.
According to him, admission fees from selected students would be accepted from Nov 28 to Dec 1 while claim forms from unsuccessful candidates would also be received during the same period.
“Those not satisfied with the merit list or their placement can also submit claim forms, available for Rs200 each, from the Silver Jubilee gate, within the same dates and if their claims are found valid, the money would be returned to them and admissions would be granted” he added.
He said admission lists had been put on display at the main Silver Jubilee gate of the KU and at the office of the admission committee at the varsity’s administration block.—PPI
