Karachi Urban score first win

KARACHI, Nov 24: Karachi Urban scored their first victory in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League competition with an eight-wicket defeat of Lahore Shalimar at the UBL Sports Complex on Thursday.

The hosts needed only 70 runs on the fourth and final day after resuming at 129 for no wicket.

Maisam Hasnain and Ghulam Ali carried their overnight opening partnership to 150 before the latter fell to medium-pacer Waqas Ahmed for 67. The veteran’s 101-ball knock contained 11 fours.

Maisam was run out after adding 19 to his Wednesday’s tally of 64. His 83 were scored off 153 deliveries and included 16 boundaries.

Shadab Kabir, the Test left-hander, and skipper Ahmer Saeed provided the finishing touches to the match which ended before lunch.
