Jamaat to support JUI-F’s candidate

LAKKI MARWAT, Nov 24: The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) has decided to support the JUI-F candidate in the upcoming by-polls for the PF-75 provincial assembly seat (Lakki-Marwat The decision was taken in a joint meeting of the Majlis-i-Shura, political committee and unit amirs of the JI, which was held here at the district office on Thursday. District Amir Mazullah Khan presided over the meeting.

Giving details to local journalists, the district secretary general of JI, Sabz Ali Khan Naveed, said that the JUI’s leadership had been asked to bring its own candidate in the election arena and refrain from relying on others.

“We will review our decision regarding extending unconditional support if JUI’s leaders hired a candidate from other political groups to contest elections from the JUI platform,” he maintained, saying that the participants also expressed deep resentment over the deteriorating law and order situation in the district and demanded of the local authorities of the police department and district administration to ensure safety of both life and property of the people.
