KARACHI, Nov 24: Spate of violence against teachers continued on Thursday when some activists of a political organization misbehaved and used derogatory language against the principal and teachers of the Government Premier College, North Nazimabad, who asked them to vacate a corridor used as temporary office for the issuance and acceptance of admission, registration and enrolment forms.

According to a faculty member, activists of a political organization misbehaved with the faculty members and the principal Kamal Mudassir, used derogatory language against them and refused to vacate the corridor in question.

The situation led to the arrival of the area police, UC and town nazims at the college who intervened and assured the faculty members and the principal of protection, he added.

“The activists of a political organization sit in the corridor, which the college administration uses for the issuance and acceptance of the forms nearing exams. Today when these students were asked to vacate the place, they refused and when the principal and teachers intervened, they pushed and abused them, threatened them of dire consequences and refuse to leave the corridor” he added.

However, the group of said students remained at the place and the temporary office could not start function, the faculty member added.

The college principal, Mudassir Kamal, said that an incident of minor misunderstanding took place but police and the elected representatives reached at the college and resolved the matter.

He denied that any faculty member or he was manhandled by any group of students, police and elected representatives talked to the students, who vacated the place afterwards.—PPI
