Razzaq hopes to return for ODIs

FAISALABAD, Nov 23: Injured Pakistani all-rounder Abdul Razzaq said Wednesday he aimed to return for the one-day series against England. “It is frustrating to miss all three Tests, but hopefully I will be back for the one-day series,” Razzaq said in Lahore.

The 25-year-old Razzaq was ruled out of the ongoing three-Test series against England due to an elbow injury.

“I am 80 percent fit and bowling in short spells, but the doctors advised me not to risk playing in the third Test,” said Razzaq, who has scored 1,523 runs and bagged 77 wickets in 37 Tests.

Pakistan’s chief selector Wasim Bari said Razzaq would not be considered for the final Test when the squad would be announced on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a PCB official said Razzaq had not been cleared to play in the Lahore Test starting on Nov 29 as he was still recovering from the injury that kept him out of the first two matches of the series.

“He has improved 40 percent but the medical board says he needs more time to be 100 percent fit,” PCB director of cricket operations Saleem Altaf said.—Agencies
