Three ties decided

LAHORE, Nov 23: Three matches were decided on the opening day of the NBP-Punjab Inter-zonal district football championship at Punjab Stadium on Wednesday.

Bahawalpur beat Rawalpindi on penalty kicks 5-4 after a goalless draw.

Two goals each by Shahbaz and Zahid Niaz helped Lahore thrash Dera Ghazi Khan 4-0.

Shahbaz drew the first blood scoring a field goal in the 9th minute. Zahid increased the lead to 3-0 by scoring back-to-back goals in the 22nd and 33rd minutes.

Shahbaz struck his second in the 42nd minute to seal the fate of the match.

Faisalabad carved out a 2-0 win against Sialkot.

Yasir scored in the 6th minute and Imran Farooqi slammed in the 8th minute to complete the tally.
