LBOD employees demand payment of salary
NAWABSHAH, Nov 23: A large number of employees of the Left Bank Outfall Drain, Nawabshah division, held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Wednesday against non-payment of salaries. The protesters were led by Abdul Wahid Jamal, Shoukat Dahri, Imam Ali Rind and Riaz Khaskheli.
They were carrying placards and raising slogans.
They said that 465 workers were not getting thier salary for several years.
The protesters threatened to observe a hunger strike till death if their salaries were not released within a week.
Earlier, the protesters held a demonstration outside the office of the LBOD executive engineer and the district nazim.
PROTEST: A large number of students held a demonstration outside the press club on Wednesday against alleged cheating in the admission test of MBBS and BDS held in Hyderabad on Nov 13.
The protesting students included Benazir Maria Noorani, Sobia, Kiran, Ayesha, Tasleem, Sadia Chandio, Nighat, Kamran, Nasreen Baloch, Shakir Memon and Nahid Bibi.
They were carrying placards and wearing black armbands.
They alleged that the examination paper was out one day before the test.
The protesters alleged that some students cheated in the exam by using the cell phones.
They said that the test was conducted by the NTS which had earlier conducted the test in Peshawar.
There were complaints of using unfair means in the test even in Peshawar, the students said.
They demanded from the authorities concerned to give the test again.
WALK: The district health department organized a walk here to create awareness about polio.
The walk was led by EDO health Dr Ali Nawaz Khoso, DDO Dr Inamul Haq and DO education Mohammad Khan Dahiri.
It was started from the H. M. Khoja High School and terminated at the press club.
Members of NGOs, nurses, lady health visitors and school children participated in the walk.
They were carrying banners and placards.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Khoso informed the participants of the walk that no case of polio had been reported in the district since last one and a half years.
He said the health department was putting all efforts to eliminate the disease.
