QUETTA, Nov 23: A seminar organized by political parties here on Wednesday adopted a 14-point resolution, calling upon the government to bring an end to water shortage in the provincial capital. The resolution demanded allocation of funds for construction of trenches, check dams, delay action dams and storage dams to increase underground water table in Quetta district.
It also called for making operational tubewells in Hazarganji, Mariabad, Mian Gundi and Sraghergaee.
The resolution demanded installation of water filter plants in Quetta and computerization of water distribution system.
Balochistan Health Minister Hafiz Hamadullah, MPA Abdur Rahim Ziaratwal, National Party chief Dr Hayee Baloch, Quetta District Nazim Mir Maqbool Lehri, Hamid Latif Rana of Wasa, and others spoke at the seminar.
DEMONSTRATION: Activists of the Pakistan Wapda Hydroelectric Central Labour Union staged a protest demonstration here on Wednesday to demand reinstatement of sacked Wapda employees.
The protestors gathered outside the local press club and raised slogans against the government and Wapda authorities. They also staged a sit-in outside the district nazim office.
