‘No rift in PML-N ranks’

GUJRANWALA, Nov 23: PML-N city president ex-MPA Abdul Rauf Mughal and former federal minister Ghulam Dastagir Khan have said that there is no rift in the party’s ranks over nominations for naib nazims of the district and towns. In a press release, they said all matters to this effect had been settled in the party and ARD meetings.

However, Dawn stands by its story and reminds Mr Dastagir Khan and Abdul Rauf Mughal of a meeting held at the former’s residence which was participated by local leaders as well. At the meeting, they had decided to nominate Javid Gujjar for Qila Deedar Singh town naib nazim slot.

Later, former provincial minister Usman Ibrahim had issued a statement on Nov 21 and announced supporting Shafiul Hasan Siddiqi for the slot. His statement is enough to prove the differences in PML-N ranks.

SHO CENSURED: The anti-terrorism court No. 1 censured an SHO and an investigation officer for not finding a clue to the kidnap-cum-murder case of a minor. Reports said some unidentified accused had kidnapped Hamza from Naushera Road, demanded Rs500,000 ransom for his release and later killed him.

Trade volume: Investment in African countries by Pakistani industrialists will foster relations.

This was stated by High Commissioners of African countries, Sheickia (Kenya), Allah-e-Ali Usman (Sudan), Emamium Yastois (South Africa), Abdom Haigi (Eriteria), and Rafiq Jehangir (Mauritius) while speaking at the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Wednesday.

They expressed the hope that trade relations between Pakistan and African countries would be strengthened following export of quality products from here. They appreciated the ‘made in Gujranwala’ products and lauded the manufacturers.

Earlier, GCCI President Akhlaq Ahmad Butt and other office-bearers welcomed the guests and apprised them about the quality of products made in Gujranwala.

PHYSICAL REMAND: The anti-terrorism court No.1 on Wednesday issued four-day physical remand of disqualified MPA Mian Mazher Javed and sent 27 other accused to jail on judicial remand here on Wednesday.
