PESHAWAR, Nov 23: The civil administration, with the help of the armed forces, has disbursed Rs2794.39 million among affected people in the earthquake-hit areas of the NWFP, says an ISPR press release. According to it, Rs1709.575 million were paid to next of kin of the dead and wounded and Rs1084.815 million was disbursed among the survivors whose house were damaged in the Oct 8 quake.

A total of Rs1251.48 million was given to the heirs of the dead and injured in Mansehra, Rs284.05 million in Battagram, Rs59.56 million in Abbottabad, Rs53.92 million in Kohistan and Rs60.565 million in Shangla.

Compensation to the affected people was being paid in the light of the report compiled by joint damage assessment teams, comprising representatives of the army, revenue department and councillors and union council nazims of the affected districts, the ISPR said.

The process of payment of compensation to the affected people had been expedited to enable them to start construction of their houses in the wake of approaching winter, it added.

The press release said that the army had opened 19 tent schools in Battal, Gul Maira, Chattar Plain, Balimung, Kan Shakoora, Ranjha, Sharkoora, Harori Bala, Kashtara, Hassa, Balakot and Maira.
