KARACHI: BD minister visits SSUET


KARACHI, Nov 23: The Minister of Food and Disaster Management of Bangladesh, Kamal Ibne Yousuf, on Wednesday visited the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) Karachi and observed that the people of Bangladesh wanted to see Pakistan as a strong state in all respects in the region.

During the visit, in which he was accompanied by Bangladeshi Deputy High Commissioner in Pakistan Abdul Hannan and his wife, Mr Yousuf attended a reception hosted in his honour by the SSUET.

The Bangladeshi minister had arrived in Pakistan to attend the Donors Conference held in Islamabad on Nov 19, after which he was invited to attend a reception at the SSUET.

Paying tributes to the Aligarh Old Boys Association for establishing the SSUET and Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, he observed that without his efforts Muslims would have remained illiterate and unable to get a separate homeland in the Indian subcontinent.

He informed that the literacy rate in Bangladesh was very high while the government spend huge sums of money for female education.

Bangladeshi Deputy High Commissioner Abdul Hannan, SSUET Chancellor Z.A Nizami, SSUET’s Mohammad Zakir Ali Khan, former senator Fasih Iqbal and SSUET Vice-Chancellor Dr S. Nazir Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.—PPI
