Siemens profit rises

KARACHI, Nov 22: Siemens Pakistan reported a profit of Rs779 million during the year 2005 ending September 30, showing a rise of 89 per cent over the last 2004. Basic earning per share rose to Rs100.24 compared to Rs53.10 a year earlier.

The results were approved at the Siemens board meeting, says a press release.

The profit before tax rose by 62 per cent to over Rs1.2 billion, as all five business segments increased their profits compared to the year 2004.

Information and communication, energy and industry automation and services contributed major share to the results, followed by rotary machines and products and other operations.

Siemens Pakistan managing director Sohail Wajahat H. Siddiqui expressed satisfaction over the results and attributed the higher growth in profits to the country’s present economic scenario.

Mr Siddiqui also disclosed that after the Oct 8 earthquake a global effort was started under Siemens’ caring hands framework.

To date total donations in cash and kind from local and international Siemens resources amounted to more than Rs80 million, which included more than Rs20 million of medical equipment.
