PM sets up parliamentary committee

ISLAMABAD, Nov 21: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Monday constituted a ‘Committee of Parliamentarians’ to review the relief and rehabilitation work in the earthquake-battered areas and summoned its first meeting here on Wednesday.

The committee, headed by the prime minister, would have eight members from opposition and nine from treasury benches.

The members from opposition are: Maulana Fazlur Rehman (MMA), Makhdoom Muhammad Amin Fahim (PPPP), Qazi Hussain Ahmed (MMA), Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan (PML-N), Imran Khan (TI), Mehmood Khan Achakzai (PKMAP), Abdul Rauf Mengal (BNP) and Mian Raza Rabbani.

The members from the treasury benches are Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain (PML-Q), Rao Sikandar Iqbal (PPP-P), Dr Muhammad Farooq Sattar (MQM), Justice (retd) Abdul Razaque Thahim (PML-F), Munir Khan Orakzai (FATA), Sardar Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari, Hamid Nasir Chattha, Wasim Sajjad and Muhammad Naseer Mengal of PML-Q.

Invitations to the committee members are being issued to participate in the first meeting scheduled to be held at 5 pm. —APP
