Junior badminton


ISLAMABAD, Nov 21: Sindh’s Marukh and Sofia and Punjab’s Anum and Bisma Idrees reached the semifinals of the girls’ U-16 singles of the NBP National junior badminton championship at Rodham Hall, Sports Complex Islamabad on Monday.

NBP’s Sara Khan, Punjab’s Aqsa Razzak, Sindh’s Sofia Mughal and Wapda’s Palwasha reached the semifinal of the girls U-19 singles.

NWFP’s Zaran defeated Murad Ali in the second round match of the boys U-19 singles in three sets 15-10, 11-15, 17-15.

Semifinals of boys and girls U-16 singles and doubles will be played at 5:00pm, boys U-19 singles and doubles at 6.00pm and ladies at 10:00 am on Tuesday.

Results (quarterfinals):

Girls U-16 singles: Marukh bt Nadia Rasheed 11-4, 11-6, Anum Bilal bt Sania 11-3, 11-5, Bisma Idrees bt Amber Aslam 11-1, 11-1, Sofia Mughal bt Aqsa Razzak 4-11,11-8,11-9, in the quarter finals matches.

Girls U-19 singles: Sara Khan bt Saira Razzak 11-2, 11-3, Aqsa Razzak bt Romana 11-5, 11-7, Sofia Mughal bt Farrukh Isa 11-2, 11-3, Palwasha bt Bisma Idrees 11-1, 11-1.

Boys U- 16 doubles: Salman-Naveed bt Arsalan-Salman 15-13, 15-2, Irfan- Irsalan bt Ali Mehdi-Naveed 15-11, 15-4, Furqan-Umer bt Wasey-Wajahat 15-1, 15-4.—APP
