KARACHI, Nov 21: Karachi Gymkhana Club’s veteran pair, Naseem Arzoo-Ghaffar Qureshi outbid the established pair Ziaullah-Hamid to win the Mitchell Movement title on Sunday in the weekend duplicate bridge programme of Karachi Bridge Association by an impressive score of 61.58 per cent.
Ziaullah-Hamid must be repenting over missed opportunities as they lost the top berth by a whisker when they took it lightly and doubled a part score which their opponents doubled, giving them all the important clues.
Zia-Hamid scored 59.84 per cent for the second and Qasim Memon-S M Hasnain finished third at 56.87 per cent.
Siddiqui brothers, veterans Azmatullah-Lutfullah topped from east-west direction with a score of 59.63 per cent, punishing overbids and making their own biddable hands.
Irfan Saadat Khan-Tanvir Mazhar put up a spirited fight but their efforts fell short and they finished second with 57.70 per cent. Slightly behind them Asghar Naqvi-Asghar Abbas finished third at 56.60 per cent.
