RAWALPINDI, Nov 21: A doctor and his servant were killed by some unidentified persons in their house in F-11/2 sector on Monday, while a policeman died after being run over by a vehicle at Faizabad Chowk, police said. Dr Syed Mohammad Abdullah was living in Islamabad along with his servant Mohammad Ayub while his wife and five children were settled in the United States.
The incident came to light on Monday afternoon when Shahid Khan, a relative of Mohammad Ayub, came to visit him and found him lying dead in a room.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad Sikandar Hayat said Dr Syed Mohammad Abdullah was tied to a chair with a piece of telephone wire while his mouth was stuffed with cloth.
The SSP said Mohammad Ayub, whose body was lying in another room, had knife wounds to his face and was tortured before being killed.
The SSP ruled out possibility of robbery as nothing was found stolen from the house.
Dr Abdullah, who was in his 60s, had stayed in the US for 31 years. He had been serving at Pims as a volunteer these days. He was also working on a hospital project in Rawalpindi.
Preliminary postmortem report suggested that there was a gap of two to three hours between the murders of the two persons.
SSP Sikandar Hayat said police had started investigation on different lines and teams had been dispatched to different cities in search of the culprits. However, at present nobody has been taken into custody.
The police, while quoting the doctor’s brother, said Mr Abdullah’s house had been robbed in the past and since then he was receiving threat calls.
Meanwhile, a police constable posted at the Industrial Area police station was killed after being hit by a speeding car at Faizabad on Monday.
Mohammad Khurshid was waiting for a bus at Faizabad Chowk when a car (RIS-7905) driven by Abdul Hameed hit him killing him on the spot.
The car driver and a bank officer have been arrested.
