PESHAWAR, Nov 21: NWFP Governor Khalilur Rehman has lauded the US government for providing “moral and material” support to victims of last month’s earthquake. The governor was speaking to US Ambassador Ryan C. Crocker, Ms Shirin Raziuddin Tahirkheli, head of the US delegation to the UN Commission on Human Rights, and seven other officials of the US Embassy, who called on him at the Governor’s House here on Monday.
Mr Rehman said the generous pledge made by US representatives at the international donors’ conference would prove helpful in the massive relief and rehabilitation work being carried out in the quake-hit areas.
The US envoy reiterated the US commitment to assist the Pakistan government in overcoming post-quake problems. He said his government would continue to provide financial support to develop the tribal areas.
