KARACHI: Woman, man killed in road accidents

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 21: Two persons died in separate road accidents in different parts of the city on Monday. A young man died in a road accident in Nazimabad Monday morning. Police said Junaid, 20, was on his motorcycle when a speeding oil tanker hit him near Khamosh Colony. The injured motorcyclist was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police arrested tanker driver Muhammad Shahid and impounded the vehicle.

In another accident, a young girl was knocked down by a speeding vehicle in Orangi Town.

Police said the victim identified as Fakhar Parveen, 20, was crossing a road in the Pakistan Bazaar police station limits when an unknown vehicle knocked him down and sped away. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

KILLED: The bullet-riddled body of a young man was found near a cattle-pen in Khokhrapar on Monday morning.

Police said the victim was identified as Nooruddin, 32. Police said the man was reportedly killed on suspicion of being a police informer.

He was picked up by unknown persons on late Sunday night and his body was found the next morning.

BURNT: A bus belonging to the Government College of Technology was set ablaze by unknown persons on late Sunday night.

The bus was set on fire in North Nazimabad at around 2am in the morning. Police said the bus was carrying a wedding party, when unknown persons intercepted it near the KDA Chowrangi and torched it after forcing its passengers to get down from the vehicle.

A resident from North Nazimabad called up Dawn offices on Monday and complained that a bus which was set on fire around 2am in the morning by unknown persons was still parked in the middle of the road on Monday evening, hindering the flow of traffic. Mr Sohail said that he had informed the police about the bus causing trouble to the public but they said it was not their job to remove the burnt bus.

A case was registered at the Shamim Shaheed police station in connection with the arson.
