KARACHI: Anti-polio drive begins

KARACHI, Nov 21: Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Monday inaugurated three-day anti-polio campaign in the province by administering anti-polio vaccine drops in a simple ceremony at Chief Minister’s House. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Arbab Rahim said that last year there were only 53 polio cases reported across the country. Of them, 28 cases were reported in Sindh, he added.

Dr Arbab stressed upon officers and doctors of provincial health department to make concerted efforts to get the province declared polio-free. He warned that no negligence would be allowed in this noble cause.

Sindh Women Development Minister Dr Saeeda Malik also administered anti-polio drops to children. Sindh Health Secretary Dr Naushad Ahmed Sheikh, representatives of the Unicef and doctors were also present on the occasion. The campaign will continue till Nov 24. —PPI
