Consignment of tents

LAHORE, Nov 19: Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Syed Raza Ali Gilani dispatched a consignment of 6,849 tents for earthquake victims on 48 trucks from Jinnah Hall here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said another 93 trucks had carried foodstuffs, blankets, medicines and tents from other districts raising the total number of vehicles dispatched from Punjab so far to 9,175.

He said dispatch of tents had been started to quake-affected areas on priority basis as the homeless people were required to be protected against cold and rain. He said the provincial government would continue providing assistance to victims till they were completely rehabilitated.

The minister also exchanged views with the drivers of trucks transporting relief goods to affected areas and the government officials accompanying them.
