Nazims assured of govt support

QUETTA, Nov 19: The Balochistan government has assured districts nazims of its cooperation in strengthening the devolution of power programme to resolve problems being faced by the people in the province. Provincial Chief Secretary K. B. Rind, who presided over the first meeting of the nazims here on Saturday, highlighted the support of the provincial and federal governments to accelerate development activities in the province and ensure participation of the people in them.

The chief secretary said that it was imperative that the local governments ensured good governance, necessary for financial discipline in developmental and non-developmental expenditures.

Speaking on the occasion, IG Chaudhry Mohammad Yaqoob assured nazims that the police force would cooperate with them to maintain law and order in their jurisdictions.

The district nazims pinpointed problems people were facing in their districts and expressed the hope that the provincial government’s cooperation would help them resolve their problems.

JAM YOUSUF: Chief Minister Jam Yousuf has said that the success of the donors’ conference in Islamabad reflects the positive foreign policy of Pakistan and endorsement of President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s rehabilitation and reconstruction programme for the quake-affected people.

In a statement on Saturday, he said that the pledges made by the countries, international financial institutions and aid agencies were in response of their confidence in the procedure for utilizing funds for the quake-affected people.
