GILGIT, Nov 18: Representatives of 1,155 teachers of the Social Action Programme staged a sit-in outside the Northern Areas Legislative Council on Friday to demand regularization of their service. The teachers have vowed to continue their protests till their problems are addressed. NALC members assured the teachers that the issue would be taken up at the federal level and special measures would be made to taken to resolve the issue.
They told the teachers that the NALC would advise the government to allocate an amount in the ADP to run and manage these schools which will be closed down in April 2006.—Correspondent
