HYDERABAD, Nov 17: The central committee of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party has welcomed proposals to form a new alliance of nationalists to solve Sindh’s problems.
At a meeting on Wednesday, the committee said that framing a grand alliance was a step in the right direction.
Dr Qadir Magsi presided over the meeting.
It resolved to strengthen the alliance to highlight problems of Sindh at the international level.
The meeting was of the view that Sindh was being treated as a colony and its all resources were being transferred to non-Sindhis.
It alleged that conspiracies were being hatched against Sindh’s language and heritage.
It said that there was no other option for the Sindhi people but to unite on one platform to protect their rights.
It condemned preparations for launching a new operation against Balochistan and resolved that the party would support the people of Balochistan in their just struggle for their rights.
It decided to observe the Motherland Day in March and constituted various committees to make necessary arrangements for the event.
It decided to hold the national congress of the party on December 24 and 25.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Magsi criticized the government policies with special reference to construction of the Kalabagh dam and reopening of the Khokhrapar-Munabao route.
PROTEST: A large number of people belonging to the Christian community, including women, here on Thursday held a rally outside the press club to protest against the attack on the Christian community and torching of churches in the Sangla Hill area in Punjab on Nov 12.
Brother Philip Hera, director of the Justice and Peace Commission, and other leaders of the Catholic commission led the rally. They said the attack on the Christian community at Sangla Hill and torching of churches was a pre-planned conspiracy.
They said the blasphemy charges against Yousuf Masih were totally false and a money dispute was blown out of proportion.
They demanded that a judicial inquiry be ordered into the incident.
