Saeed’s late goal settles outcome

LAHORE, Nov 16: A last-gasp goal by Saeed Aslam Khan helped Equestrian beat Welness Pharmaceutical 5 1/2-5 in the C J Lysine Cup polo on Wednesday.

The winners enjoyed 1 1/2 goals handicap. Equestrian led the first chukker 2 1/2-1 with Ahmed Zubair goal.

Sufi Muhammad Haris, who struck four goals for the losers, replied for the losers.

The losers gained a slim 3- 2 1/2 lead by scoring two goals in the second chukker through Faaiz Rahim Khan and Sufi Haris.

They maintained the lead in the third chukker as both the teams added one goal each.

Haris struck first while Ahmed Zubair for the winners. The losers increased the lead (5-3 1/2) from the outset of the fourth chukker when Sufi Haris banged home his last goal.

But Equestrian staged a comeback when Ahmed Zubair struck his third to reduce it to only half goal, converting a 40-yard penalty hit, before Saeed scoring a field goal which proved the winner.

Four goals by Usman Haye and three by Raja Amer Khan guided Silver Shadows to a big 8- 3 1/2 win over Master Paints.

Faisal Qadeer Khokhar chipped in with a goal for the winners. Silver started the match on fast tempo as it struck seven times in the second chukker.

The losers, who had a half goal handicap replied through Sufi Muhammad Aamir,Jawad Jamil Malik and Aamer Shahid.
