Murder convict gets death sentence

CHITRAL, Nov 16: District and Sessions Judge Saleem Jan Khan has awarded death sentence to Mohammad Rafi of Garam Chashma on the charge of murder. Deciding the case in a record period of three months, the court also fined the convict Rs50,000 and in case of non-payment, to undergo rigorous imprisonment of six months.

The court also punished the convict for keeping unauthorized arms.

According to the prosecution, convict Mohammad Rafi had shot dead villager Murad Ali Shah after an altercation over irrigation water in July this year.
