KARACHI: Child dies in accident

KARACHI, Nov 16: A toddler died in a road accident in Saeedabad on Wednesday. Police said Maimoona, 4, was playing outside the house in Sector D-3 when a speeding minibus of route (D-11) knocked her down. The young girl died on the spot.

People of the area damaged the minibus and tried to set it on fire, but police intervention saved the vehicle from being torched.

Police arrested the errant driver of the minibus Abdul Hameed.

In another accident, an unknown person was crushed beneath a locomotive at Drig Colony Railway Station. The police said the victim in his mid-30s was crossing the rail-tracks, but got crushed beneath the approaching locomotive.

DROWNS: A man died after falling into a storm water drain in Korangi on Wednesday.

Police said that Mohammad Ishaq, 55, was cutting the wild grass at the edge of a stormwater drain, when he fell into the drain and died. His body was recovered and shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities by the police.
