Easy victory for Asim

PESHAWAR, Nov 15: Second seed Asim Shafiq defeated Israr Gul in the first round of the men’s singles of the 25th Chief of Air Staff Khyber Cup open tennis championship on Tuesday. Top 12 players including Aqeel Khan (No.1), Asim Shafiq (No.2), Nomi Qamar (No.3), Jalil Khan (No.4), Shezad Khan (No.5), and Inam Gul (No.6) will fought it out for top honours in the Rs120,000 event.

The championship features men’s singles, men’s doubles, veteran doubles, under-17 and under-13.

Asim took no time beating Israr Gul in a 53-minute battle 6-2, 6-2.

Eight players Younis Khan, Amjad Nasim, Inamullah, Israr Gul, Jehangir Khan, Shah Khan, Usman Ijaz, Azeem and Amjad Nasim qualified for the main round.
