Amjad to face Kemp for CNS Trophy

By A Sports Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 14: Pakistan’s former world-ranked player, Amjad Khan will take on England’s Jonathan Kemp for the CNS international squash trophy on Tuesday after both won their semifinals at the Roshan Khan/ Jahangir Khan Squash Complex on Monday.

Amjad, a qualifier, making a comeback after a long absence due to series of crippling injuries, overcame fellow countryman Arshad Iqbal Burki in four games. The score being 6-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-5.

Kemp outclassed his compatriot Mark Heather in a one-sided affair 11-4, 11-6, 11-5.

Arshad stunned Amjad winning the first game as the former made several uncharacteristic errors.

The reverse seems to work wonders for Amjad who bounced back with vengeance to completely take control of the match winning the next three games without much opposition from Arshad.

In an all-England semfinal clash Kemp was hardly made to sweat by Heather who was outplayed and outgunned in every facet of the game by his superior opponent.
