KARACHI, Nov 14: The Sindh High Court reserved on Monday its order on one of the quashment petitions moved by former revenue minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh for announcement on November 21. Justice Yasmin Abbasey, who heard arguments advanced by Advocate Raja Qureshi, counsel for the petitioner, at length, adjourned further hearing of two other quashment petitions to Nov 21.

The petitioner says that he had been implicated in bogus corruption cases involving illegal allotment, transfer and acquisition of land and the trial anti-corruption court be directed to discharge him and quash the cases registered against him by the Anti-Corruption Establishment.

Advocate Qureshi said there was no possibility of the petitioner’s conviction as the prosecution had failed to make out any case or produce evidence to substantiate the charge.

Meanwhile, the protective pre-arrest bail orders passed by the high court in favour of the ex-minister in several cases would come up for confirmation on Tuesday.

The first suit was filed by Karim Bux and 13 other persons who were allotted land in Ibrahim Haidery, making Sindh Chief Secretary, member Board of Revenue and others defendant seeking declaration for cancelling land originally allotted to them.

As no one appeared on behalf of Board of Revenue, the bench issued bailable arrest warrants of the member, BOR against a sum of Rs.10,000 adjourning the matter to a date to be fixed later by the office of the court.

The same bench hearing another identical suit filed by Ayesha Muzahir and Mohammad Faisal Ahmed who were allotted 80 acres in Deh Phihai, Korangi issued bailable arrest warrants against DDO Revenue, Korangi Industrial Area and Mukhtiarkar, Revenue in the sum of Rs25,000 each.
